What are the most common Pokémon type combinations?

Many Pokémon have two types rather than one, creating unique combinations that can offer both strengths and weaknesses in battle. Understanding which type combinations are most common across the Pokédex helps trainers identify which dual type Pokémon they are most likely to encounter, and which combinations offer the best variety for team building. This analysis maps every primary and secondary type combination across all 800 Pokémon.

The heat map shows that the most common single type Pokémon are Normal with 61 and Water with 59, as indicated by the dark squares in the Null column which represents Pokémon with no secondary type. Among dual type combinations, Normal and Flying is the most common pairing with 24 Pokémon, followed by Bug and Flying with 14. The darker the square on the heat map, the more Pokémon share that type combination. Many combinations have very few or even no Pokémon at all, highlighting how rare certain pairings are in the Pokédex.
